Anagyrus aberiae is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the Encyrtidae family. While many encyrtids are beneficial, this specific species is recognized in agricultural contexts for its complex role in ecosystems, particularly within citrus orchards where it interacts with established pest populations and their natural enemies.

This pest is primarily associated with citrus crops, including oranges, lemons, and mandarins. Its presence is most documented in warm, Mediterranean-like climates where citrus cultivation is intensive. The species often exploits the ecological niches created by mealybug populations, which are the primary hosts for its larval development.

The lifecycle of Anagyrus aberiae follows a complete metamorphosis: egg, larval stages, pupa, and adult. The adult female locates a suitable host and deposits an egg inside the host's body. The developing larva consumes the host from the inside, eventually killing it. This reproductive strategy ensures the survival of the next generation and is highly dependent on ambient temperature and humidity.
