The genus Anomoia is a group of insects belonging to the family Tephritidae, commonly known as fruit flies. These insects are recognized for their distinct wing patterns and complex behaviors, making them a subject of study in agricultural entomology due to their potential to damage horticultural crops.

These pests primarily target the fruit of various Rosaceae species. Plants such as hawthorn (Crataegus), cotoneaster, and occasionally other stone or pome fruits serve as hosts. Their infestation is often subtle until damage to the fruit pulp becomes visibly apparent during the ripening stage.

The life cycle of the Anomoia species follows a holometabolous development. Adult females deposit eggs beneath the skin of developing fruits. Once hatched, the larvae feed on the internal tissue, creating galleries that compromise the structural integrity of the fruit and often causing premature fruit drop.
