Aphidius platensis

Aphidius platensis is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the family Braconidae, order Hymenoptera. Contrary to the classification of crop pests, this insect acts as a natural biological control agent, playing a crucial role in suppressing aphid populations in various agricultural settings, including greenhouses and open-field crops.

The taxonomic classification of this species identifies it as a specialized endoparasitoid. Its presence is vital for maintaining ecological balance, as it targets several species of aphids that are notorious for damaging crops by sap-feeding and transmitting viral diseases.
