The broom seed beetle (Apion fuscirostre) is a member of the order Coleoptera and the family Apionidae. This insect is a specialist herbivore that primarily infests plants of the genus Cytisus (broom). It is considered a significant pest in both natural ecosystems and cultivated landscapes where broom species are grown.

The damage caused by this beetle is focused on the plant's reproductive success. The larvae feed exclusively inside the developing seeds, effectively destroying them. This impact can lead to a drastic reduction in seed production, which is a concern for nursery growers and those aiming for natural regeneration of broom shrubs.
