This species primarily attacks a variety of tropical and subtropical fruits. Key host plants include banana species, citrus, mango, and various ornamental fruiting plants. The life cycle of Bactrocera curvipennis consists of four distinct developmental stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The female fly deposits eggs beneath the skin of ripening fruits. Upon hatching, the larvae tunnel into the fruit flesh, feeding on the pulp. Once development is complete, the mature larvae exit the fruit to pupate in the soil.
