Brachycaudina napelli is a specialized aphid species belonging to the family Aphididae within the order Hemiptera. This pest is specifically associated with plants of the genus Aconitum, acting as a primary parasite that can cause significant damage to these ornamental perennials.

The primary hosts for this aphid are various species of aconite (monkshood). These insects prefer to colonize the undersides of leaves, tender apical growth, and flower buds. By extracting plant sap, the aphid severely weakens the host plant, often leading to stunted growth and reduced floral displays.

The biology of this species is characterized by high reproductive rates and rapid population growth during the growing season. Like many aphids, they undergo asexual reproduction during the spring and summer, allowing colonies to expand rapidly.
