Campiglossa snowi is a member of the fruit fly family (Tephritidae) within the order Diptera. These insects are recognized as specialized pests, as their larvae typically develop endophytically, meaning they live and feed within the internal tissues of their host plants, which makes them particularly difficult to detect during the early stages of infestation.
This pest primarily targets plants within the Asteraceae family. In agricultural settings, it can cause significant damage to both wild weeds that serve as reservoirs and certain cultivated plants. The infestation typically involves the reproductive structures, leading to compromised seed yield and aesthetic degradation of the host plants.
