Wormwood aphid

The wormwood aphid (Latin: Capitophorus formosartemisiae) is a species of insect belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Aphididae. It is a specialized pest primarily associated with the genus Artemisia, commonly known as wormwood, which belongs to the Asteraceae family.

The host plants affected by this aphid include various species of wild and cultivated wormwood. In agricultural and horticultural settings, this pest can cause significant stress to decorative, culinary, and medicinal varieties, directly affecting their vegetative growth and overall plant health.

The biology and life cycle of Capitophorus formosartemisiae are adapted to the seasonal growth of its host plants.
