Description
Chelonus asiaticus is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the family Braconidae, order Hymenoptera. Within agricultural systems, it is recognized as a beneficial insect that acts as a natural control agent, specifically targeting the eggs and larvae of various harmful moth species.
The primary hosts for this wasp include pests such as the cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera). Consequently, its beneficial impact is most prominent in crops like cotton, corn, tomatoes, and various legumes, where these pests can cause catastrophic damage to yields if left unchecked.
