Description
The Clover mealybug (Chnaurococcus trifolii) is a significant insect pest belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Pseudococcidae. It is a specialized herbivore that primarily targets leguminous plants, posing a notable threat to both forage production and legume seed cultivation.
This pest mainly affects various species of clover (Trifolium), alfalfa (Medicago), and other related forage legumes. Due to its secretive habit of feeding near the base of the stems and root collars, infestations often go unnoticed until significant plant damage has already occurred.
