These tiny insects are notorious for their role in damaging conifer species, specifically spruce trees, by forming characteristic galls that disrupt the normal development of the host plant.

The host range is primarily limited to trees of the genus Picea. The pest infests young shoots and needles, where it feeds by sucking plant sap. This feeding behavior causes physiological stress to the tree, reducing its growth rate and vitality.
