Chrysonotomyia ruforum is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the family Eulophidae, within the order Hymenoptera. As a parasitoid, it primarily targets the larvae of the European pine sawfly, Neodiprion sertifer, which is a well-known defoliator of pine species. Its classification as a pest is complex, as it acts as an entomophage that can paradoxically influence forest health.

This species is specifically associated with coniferous forest ecosystems. It affects trees indirectly by interacting with the population dynamics of the pine sawfly. While it feeds on the pests, the interaction is often viewed in the context of forest protection, where balancing the presence of such parasitoids is essential for maintaining natural equilibrium.
