The genus Clubiona belongs to the family Clubionidae, commonly known as sac spiders. These spiders are distinct because they do not spin webs for prey; instead, they hunt actively at night. In agricultural settings, they are occasionally classified as pests due to their behavior of utilizing plant foliage as a base for their retreats during the day.
These spiders frequently target crops such as berries, grapes, and various ornamental plants. Their presence is indicated by leaves that have been folded or rolled and secured with silk threads. This activity restricts leaf surface area for photosynthesis and can lead to curling, which stunts the growth of the affected parts of the plant.
