This group of insects is widely recognized in entomology for their role as natural enemies of various agricultural pests, particularly those from the Coccoidea superfamily.

Host plants and crops. This species primarily parasitizes scale insects, specifically those of the genus Odonaspis. These pests frequently infest ornamental plants, bamboo species, and various grasses. By controlling the population of these scales, Coccobius odonaspidis plays a significant role in maintaining the health and vigor of infested plantations.

Biology and life cycle. The life cycle of Coccobius odonaspidis is characterized by endoparasitism. The female wasp locates a suitable host stage and oviposits an egg directly into the body of the scale. The larva then develops internally, consuming the host's tissues, which ultimately leads to the host's death. Pupation also occurs beneath the cover of the dead scale, protecting the developing parasitoid.
