Systematic position. Coenosia strigipes belongs to the order Diptera and the family Muscidae. The genus Coenosia is well-known within entomology, particularly for its diverse species composition. While many members of this family are recognized as predators of other insects, the specific role of Coenosia strigipes in agroecosystems requires accurate identification and management to prevent potential damage to crop health.

Affected crops. This pest species can be found in a variety of agricultural environments. It is known to inhabit fields of cereal crops, vegetable plantations, and greenhouse operations. In high-density settings, such as commercial greenhouses, the impact can be more pronounced due to the controlled environment, which often accelerates the pest's reproductive cycle throughout the year.

Biology and life cycle. The life cycle consists of four distinct stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The insect typically undergoes several generations per year depending on the climate zone. Larvae often develop in the soil or within decomposing organic matter, while adults are highly active.
