Conus aulicus is a species of predatory sea snail belonging to the family Conidae within the order Neogastropoda. Native to the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, it primarily inhabits coral reef environments. As a marine organism, it occupies a specific niche as an active nocturnal predator, utilizing a sophisticated chemical defense mechanism.

The biological cycle of this species includes a pelagic larval stage before it settles on the seabed. Adults possess a distinctive, elongated, and patterned shell that provides effective camouflage in sandy substrates. During the day, they remain buried to avoid detection, emerging at night to hunt for prey such as other mollusks or small fish using a modified radula tooth acting as a toxic harpoon.

From an agronomic perspective, Conus aulicus is not classified as a pest of agricultural crops. It lacks the biological capability to infest or damage terrestrial plant species. Its ecological impact is localized to marine environments, where it functions as a predator of small invertebrates, and it poses no threat to farming operations or agricultural production systems.

The primary concern regarding this species is the toxicity of its venom. The specialized venom gland contains conotoxins, which are highly potent neurotoxins meant to paralyze prey. Although they are not pests, accidental contact with a live specimen by humans can lead to severe envenomation, requiring immediate medical attention, though such encounters are rare in non-diving settings.

Protection measures are focused on personal safety for individuals working in marine habitats. Avoidance of handling live shells with bare hands is the only recommended strategy. No pest control protocols, chemical applications, or agronomic interventions are applicable or necessary for this species, as it maintains its role within the marine ecosystem without interfering with human agricultural activities.
