Cotesia vestalis (formerly Apanteles plutellae) is a beneficial parasitoid wasp belonging to the order Hymenoptera, family Braconidae. In modern agronomy, this species is not considered a pest; rather, it is a key natural enemy used in integrated pest management (IPM) systems to control populations of the diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella).

The insect primarily targets cruciferous crops, including cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Since it parasitizes the larvae of the diamondback moth, it serves as a critical biological agent that prevents severe defoliation of crops, providing an eco-friendly alternative to traditional synthetic chemical insecticides.
