In the context of agriculture, the Pacific oyster acts as a biofouling pest that impacts irrigation systems and agricultural water supply infrastructure near coastal areas. Its ability to colonize pipes, valves, and canal structures creates significant logistical challenges for farmers who rely on seawater or brackish water pumping for agricultural activities.
