Host plants: This species primarily targets tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and tobacco. Because it can survive on various wild solanaceous weeds, such as black nightshade, it frequently reinvades agricultural crops after standard chemical treatments are performed.

Biology and lifecycle: The lifecycle of Cyrtopeltis modesta consists of egg, five nymphal stages, and adult. Eggs are typically inserted into the plant's epidermis, making them difficult to detect. Development is temperature-dependent, allowing for multiple generations to occur rapidly in warm greenhouse environments.
