As a member of the Agromyzidae family, this insect is known for its larval stage, which creates distinct feeding tunnels, known as mines, within the internal structures of leaves.

Systematically, this species is classified within the order Diptera. Its biological cycle is intricately linked to the growth phases of its host plant. Adult flies deposit eggs directly into the leaf parenchyma, where the larvae hatch and immediately begin feeding.
