Description

Dexia is a genus of flies belonging to the family Tachinidae within the order Diptera. Unlike many other insects labeled as pests, these flies are highly specialized parasitoids that function as natural biological control agents in various ecosystems, including agricultural landscapes.

The primary hosts for Dexia larvae are the larvae of scarab beetles (Scarabaeidae), including species known as white grubs. These beetle larvae often cause significant damage to the root systems of crops and turf grass. By targeting these pests, Dexia flies help suppress their populations naturally.
