Diglyphus insularis is a species belonging to the order Hymenoptera and the family Eulophidae. This insect is primarily recognized in agricultural science for its complex ecological interactions, often functioning as a parasitoid of leaf-mining insects that pose a threat to various greenhouse and outdoor crops.

The primary hosts for the pests associated with this species include vegetable crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and various ornamental plants. These crops are particularly susceptible when the environmental conditions in greenhouses favor the rapid reproduction of Agromyzidae flies, which create mining tunnels in the leaves.

The biological life cycle of Diglyphus insularis consists of egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. The female wasp deposits its eggs near the larvae of leaf miners within the leaf tissue. Upon hatching, the wasp larvae feed on the leaf miner larvae, effectively suppressing the pest population within the mined galleries of the host plants.
