Potato leafhopper

The potato leafhopper (Dikraneura carneola) is a small insect belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Cicadellidae. Despite their small size, these insects are significant agricultural pests, known for their ability to jump and fly short distances when disturbed, often migrating into potato fields from surrounding vegetation.

This pest primarily attacks members of the Solanaceae family, with potatoes being a major host. In addition to potatoes, it can also infest various legumes and weeds, which often serve as primary breeding grounds before the insects move into cultivated fields.
