Dirioxa (Latin: Dirioxa pornia) is a member of the Tephritidae family, also known as the fruit fly family, within the order Diptera. This pest is widely recognized in horticultural circles as the Australian garden fruit fly, which poses a significant threat to various fruit-bearing plants in its endemic regions.
The primary crops susceptible to Dirioxa infestation include a variety of tropical and subtropical fruits. Commonly affected plants include papaya, mango, citrus varieties, fig, and guava. High populations of this pest can lead to extensive economic damage by rendering the produce unmarketable and reducing overall yields.
