Description
The hawthorn aphid (Dysaphis crataegi) is a significant pest belonging to the Aphididae family within the order Hemiptera. It primarily infests apple trees and hawthorn, causing substantial damage to the foliage and new growth during the spring and summer seasons.
The damage is caused by the aphids sucking plant sap, which leads to the severe curling and distortion of leaves. Infested leaves often turn yellow or develop reddish blisters, eventually drying out and falling prematurely.
