These insects are known for their characteristic white, waxy secretion that covers their bodies, providing protection against environmental stress and external agents. They are primarily distributed in warm climates where they thrive on various plant species.

This pest affects a wide array of host plants, ranging from ornamental succulents and cacti to fruit-bearing tropical crops. The insects typically cluster in sheltered areas, such as leaf axils, growing tips, and fruit stems.
