Digger wasp Ectemnius sexcinctus

Ectemnius sexcinctus belongs to the order Hymenoptera and the family Crabronidae, commonly known as digger wasps. While these wasps primarily act as predators of other insects, they have an ecological habit of nesting in wooden structures, which can have detrimental effects on stressed or decaying plant tissues in agricultural and home garden settings.

The wasp typically targets a variety of deciduous trees, with a preference for fruit-bearing species like apple, plum, and cherry trees.
