The Kentish glory (lat. Endromis versicolora) is a moth of the family Endromididae, belonging to the order Lepidoptera. While it is often considered a rare species in some regions, it remains a significant defoliating pest that targets various deciduous trees, occasionally causing localized damage in forests and ornamental plantations.

The primary host plants for this species include birch (Betula), alder (Alnus), lime (Tilia), and sometimes hazel. The larvae of this moth are voracious feeders, primarily causing damage during their middle and late larval stages by consuming large amounts of leaf tissue, which results in significant canopy thinning if the pest density is high.

The biological cycle consists of a single generation per year. The species overwinters as a pupa within a sturdy cocoon buried in soil or leaf litter near the host plant's base. The adult moths emerge very early in the spring, often when temperatures are still low, and mating followed by egg-laying typically occurs on the twigs of the target trees.

The level of harm caused by the Kentish glory is directly correlated with the abundance of the larval population. Heavy defoliation reduces the tree's photosynthetic capacity, leading to stress and weakening the overall vigor of the plant. Repeated defoliation over consecutive years may predispose trees to infections by pathogens or secondary attacks by wood-boring insects.
