Host plants and damage: The primary host for this species is the elm tree (Ulmus). The damage is characterized by the formation of specific pathological tissue growths known as galls. Aphids suck sap from the foliage, which leads to leaf curling, chlorosis, and deformity, severely reducing the aesthetic value and vitality of the trees.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle of Eriosoma mimicum involves migration between elm trees and secondary hosts, commonly grasses. In spring, stem mothers hatch from overwintering eggs and initiate gall formation.
