Description
Systematic position. The striped leafhopper (Euscelis incisus) is a member of the Hemiptera order and the Cicadellidae family. It is a well-known agricultural pest found across various temperate zones, primarily impacting grasses and cereal crops by feeding on their phloem sap.
Host plants. This insect has a wide host range, primarily targeting cereal crops like wheat, barley, rye, and oats. It also thrives on various wild grasses in meadows and field margins, which serve as essential breeding grounds and secondary food sources throughout the growing season.
Biology and life cycle. The life cycle of Euscelis incisus involves incomplete metamorphosis, including egg, nymphal stages, and adult phases.
