Euthystira is a genus of grasshoppers belonging to the family Acrididae. These insects are commonly known as short-winged grasshoppers in many regions. They are recognized for their impact on grassland ecosystems and are frequently documented as minor to moderate pests in agricultural landscapes where they feed on various monocotyledonous plants.

These pests primarily target wild grasses and cultivated cereal crops. By feeding on the foliage of grasses and cereals, they can compromise the structural integrity of the plant during its vegetative growth stage. In areas with high grasshopper density, they can cause significant biomass loss, affecting the yield of both grain crops and pasture forage.

The biology of Euthystira follows the typical Acrididae life cycle, which involves overwintering in the egg stage within soil pods.
