The host range of this parasite primarily focuses on the larvae of the mulberry silkworm. Its presence in silkworm rearing facilities is considered a major threat, as it can cause significant mortality rates in silkworm populations, directly impacting the production of cocoons and the overall output of high-quality silk fibers.

The biology of this species is characterized by a complex developmental cycle. The adult female deposits eggs onto the skin of the silkworm larva. After completing their growth inside the host, they emerge to pupate, typically forming a puparium in the surrounding environment.
