The primary host plant for this species is the true pistachio tree (Pistacia vera). The aphid exhibits a unique life cycle involving an alternation between the above-ground parts of the tree and the underground root system, which acts as a protective niche for the colonies during certain periods.

The biological cycle typically begins in the spring with the formation of leaf galls, where the initial generations develop. As temperatures rise, the aphids migrate towards the root zone, where they establish extensive colonies, feeding on the tree's sap and interfering with the root's nutrient uptake.

Damage caused by Geoica discreta is characterized by stunted growth, chlorosis, and a marked decline in tree vigor. The loss of sap from the root system weakens the plant, making it significantly more susceptible to secondary pathogenic infections and drought stress, which can lead to tree death if untreated.
