While most caddisflies are recognized for their aquatic larvae and neutral role in ecosystems, certain species within this genus can become agricultural pests when crop fields are located in close proximity to wetland habitats or poorly drained irrigation systems.

This pest is primarily known to affect cereal crops and other moist-soil plants.
