The genus Habrosyne belongs to the family Drepanidae (hooktip moths) within the order Lepidoptera. These nocturnal moths lead a secretive lifestyle during the adult stage, while their larvae, known as caterpillars, pose a significant threat to various wild and cultivated plant species.

The primary food sources for Habrosyne larvae (such as the common Habrosyne pyritoides) are plants from the Rosaceae family. Blackberries and raspberries are particularly susceptible to infestation.
