Description
The garden fleahopper (Halticus saltator) is a small but destructive insect belonging to the family Miridae (plant bugs) in the order Hemiptera. It is named for its enlarged hind legs, which enable it to jump away rapidly when disturbed, behaving much like the well-known flea beetles.
This pest is highly polyphagous, meaning it feeds on a wide variety of plant hosts. It is particularly damaging to vegetables such as beans, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, and potatoes.
