Nubigera (lat. Heliothis nubigera) is a significant agricultural pest belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Noctuidae. It is recognized as a polyphagous insect capable of causing severe damage to a variety of crops, particularly in regions with arid and semi-arid climates where it can thrive unchecked.

The pest attacks a wide range of host plants, including essential economic crops such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cotton, and alfalfa. The larvae feed aggressively on both foliage and reproductive structures, causing direct yield losses and reducing the overall quality of agricultural produce through deep tissue feeding.

The biology of Heliothis nubigera is characterized by several generations per year, depending on climatic conditions. The adult moths deposit eggs on the surface of plant parts. Upon hatching, the larvae undergo multiple instars, during which they consume large quantities of plant material, eventually dropping to the soil to pupate in preparation for the next generation.

The damage caused by this species is highly destructive. Larvae bore into fruit, destroy buds, and skeletonize leaves. These feeding habits not only result in immediate biomass loss but also create entry points for secondary pathogens like bacteria and fungi, which can lead to rapid fruit rot and total crop failure if left unmanaged.

Effective control strategies require an integrated approach (IPM) to minimize the impact on the ecosystem. Recommended practices include:
