Helochara is a genus of insects belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Cicadellidae (leafhoppers). These insects are significant agricultural pests known for their ability to feed on the sap of various grasses and cereal crops, potentially causing widespread damage in agricultural settings.

The pest primarily targets cereal crops such as wheat, barley, and rye, alongside various wild grass species. Due to their rapid reproductive cycles, Helochara populations can escalate quickly under favorable environmental conditions, putting entire fields at risk during critical growth stages.
