Helopeltis, commonly known as the tea mosquito bug, is a genus of plant-feeding insects belonging to the family Miridae (order Hemiptera). These insects are notorious pests in tropical agriculture, particularly known for their ability to inflict severe damage on high-value plantation crops.
The host range of Helopeltis is diverse, encompassing essential crops such as cocoa, tea, cashew, cotton, and various fruit trees. Their feeding behavior significantly reduces the yield and market quality of these crops, representing a major economic challenge for farmers in tropical regions.
