The primary hosts of this insect are cocoa trees and tea bushes. The pest prefers young, succulent parts of the plant, including shoots, leaves, and developing pods, as these tissues provide the most easily accessible nutrients required for their growth and reproduction.

The biological cycle of this species consists of incomplete metamorphosis: egg, nymph, and adult. Females typically deposit their eggs into the plant tissue, which protects the offspring during the early stages of development. Favorable environmental conditions, such as consistent rainfall and moderate heat, often lead to rapid increases in population density.

Damage is caused by both nymphs and adults piercing the plant tissue and injecting saliva that contains toxins.
