Hesperomyia is a genus of insects belonging to the family Cecidomyiidae, commonly known as gall midges. These tiny, fragile-looking flies play a significant role as herbivores capable of inducing abnormal growths, or galls, on host plants, which serve as a specialized habitat and primary food source for their developing larvae.

This pest affects a range of host plants, often focusing on specific botanical families.
