Water measurer

The water measurer (Hydrometra stagnorum) is a member of the order Hemiptera and the family Hydrometridae. This slender insect is commonly found in stagnant or slow-moving water bodies, where it is often seen moving slowly across the surface tension of the water.

The biology of this species is perfectly adapted to an aquatic lifestyle. It possesses specialized legs that allow it to remain on the water's surface without sinking.
