Ibalia leucospoides is a parasitic wasp belonging to the family Ibaliidae within the order Hymenoptera. Unlike typical agricultural pests, this insect acts as a specialized parasitoid, playing a critical role in the natural regulation of horntail wasps (Siricidae), which are significant wood-boring pests of conifers.

This species primarily targets the larvae of horntails that infest various coniferous tree species, including spruce, fir, and pine. The adult female locates the tunnels created by the host larvae deep within the tree trunk using its long ovipositor, which is perfectly adapted for sensing and reaching its target.

Once the egg is deposited into or near the host larva, the parasitoid larva develops internally, eventually consuming the host and causing its death.
