These insects are widely recognized as significant agricultural pests due to their specialized mouthparts, which are designed for piercing plant tissues and extracting sap from a variety of host trees.

These pests primarily target deciduous fruit trees, including apple, pear, and plum species, as well as various ornamental trees like poplars.
