Systematic position: The tree swallow (Iridoprocne bicolor, also recognized as Tachycineta bicolor) is a passerine bird in the swallow family, Hirundinidae. Widely distributed across North America, these birds are typically beneficial as insectivores, yet they can become a nuisance in specific agricultural settings.

Biology and cycle: These birds are migratory and highly social. They nest in cavities, often competing for nesting sites. Their breeding season is characterized by high activity levels, and during the post-breeding period, they form large flocks that migrate southward, often passing through intensive farming regions.
