Leiophron uniformis

Leiophron uniformis is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the Braconidae family within the Hymenoptera order. In agronomy, this insect is primarily recognized as a specialist parasitoid of mirid bugs (Miridae family), which are significant pests of various agricultural crops, including cereals, legumes, and industrial plants.

The host range of Leiophron uniformis is closely linked to the distribution of mirid nymphs. These bugs often cause direct damage by piercing plant tissues, leading to lesions, stunted growth, and decreased yield quality. The presence of the wasp is a critical indicator of both pest population density and the level of natural biological suppression in the field.
