The White Admiral (Limenitis camilla) is a butterfly species within the order Lepidoptera and the family Nymphalidae. While widely admired for its distinctive white-banded wings, the larval stage can occasionally become a nuisance for gardeners by feeding on specific host plants, specifically within the honeysuckle genus.
The primary host plants for the larvae of this species are members of the Caprifoliaceae family, particularly Lonicera species (honeysuckle). The caterpillars are specialized leaf-eaters that can cause significant defoliation when population densities are high, potentially hindering the plant's health and development.
