Description
Systematic position. The cereal leafhopper (Limotettix capitatus) belongs to the order Hemiptera and the family Cicadellidae. This species is recognized as a specialized herbivore that occupies specific ecological niches within agricultural landscapes, primarily targeting grass species.
Crops damaged. This pest primarily infests various cereal crops. Its main hosts include wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In addition to agricultural crops, it utilizes a wide range of wild grasses, which act as alternative hosts, allowing the population to persist and migrate into fields during the growing season.
