This insect species is primarily known for its host-specific relationship with certain trees, making it a significant entomological subject in the study of specialized forest pests.

Host plants: The primary host for this species is the honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos). The insect is particularly problematic in nursery environments, urban landscapes, and shelterbelts where honeylocusts are planted for their ornamental value or environmental benefits.

Biology and lifecycle: The insect undergoes a seasonal cycle synchronized with the phenology of its host plant. It overwinters in the egg stage, with eggs embedded in the bark of tender shoots.
