Macrosiphum gobonis, commonly known as the burdock aphid, is a member of the family Aphididae within the order Hemiptera. It is a specialized sap-sucking insect that feeds on the phloem of host plants, causing systemic stress and hindering the normal growth cycle of the vegetation it infests.
The primary hosts for this aphid species are plants belonging to the Asteraceae family.
